Sol Cubano Cuban Cabinet - 8/20/2010

Posted: Friday, August 20, 2010
Sol Cubano Cuban Cabinet, Magnum 6.0" x 50.  Nutty taste, with some chocolate a few inches in.  Flavor varies throughout, with some nut and wood mixing with slight deep chocolate.  A pretty good cigar.

Paired with 2006 Yalumba Shiraz Viognier.

78 degrees on a warm afternoon.

Awhile back you gave a glowing review to Ron Zacapa rum. For a less expensive, equally delicious alternative, I would suggest Zaya 12 yr. old rum. Perhaps a little chewier than the Zacapa, but a very similar flavor profile.

Awesome, gonna give it a shot. I also enjoy the Pyrat Rum (from Patron).

I also enjoy Pyrat, although sometimes it seems a bit too fruity tasting to go with a full-bodied, full-flavored cigar. For a rum somewhere in between Pyrat and Zacapa, you might want to try Mount Gay Extra Old. I'm not that fond of the other Mount Gay rums, but the Extra Old is exceptional. Probably my favorite.
